Overview

As a Civil Engineer with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Pittsburgh, PA office, you won’t spend your first years watching from the sidelines. You’ll contribute to real projects from the start, working alongside experienced engineers and scientists to shape the region’s most exciting stream, wetland, and floodplain restoration projects. If you’re looking to develop strong technical skills, learn from people who want to teach, and do work that you can point to, this is the place to launch your career.

As a 100% employee-owned firm, CEC offers a unique opportunity to build long-term wealth while developing your engineering skills and advancing your career. If you're looking for project variety, strong mentorship, and a collaborative environment where you can continue growing professionally, CEC provides the resources and support to help you succeed.

Responsibilites:

  • You will build practical engineering skills including grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, permitting, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. You will help to design ecological restoration projects that reconnect streams to floodplains, restore wetlands, improve aquatic habitat, enhance water quality, and create lasting benefits for communities
  • No two projects are exactly alike. One day you may help transform a degraded stream corridor into a thriving ecosystem; another may involve restoring hundreds of acres of floodplain and wetlands or designing resilient infrastructure for renewable energy projects
  • Along the way, you'll work closely with Project Managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, gaining valuable experience and visibility throughout the project lifecycle
  • Your experience will extend beyond the computer screen. From field investigations and drone-assisted site assessments to conceptual design, regulatory permitting, construction oversight, and ultimately seeing a restored stream flow through a newly created floodplain, you'll see how your work takes shape in the real world

What We Offer:

  • Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates
  • 100% employee-owned firm with access to ownership opportunities beginning within your first year
  • Competitive compensation with multiple income streams, including performance bonuses and employee ownership
  • 55% of company profits distributed back to employees through bonuses
  • Flexible and hybrid work schedule options
  • Comprehensive benefits beginning on day one, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match beginning the first of the month following your start date
  • Collaborative environment that supports mentorship, technical development, and career growth
