As a Survey Crew Chief for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll lead and support field survey operations for projects including boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout, working under the responsible charge of a Registered Professional Surveyor. You’ll work both independently and with crew members to ensure the efficient, safe, and accurate collection of survey data, utilizing standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support field survey work for boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, photo control, route, and construction stakeout surveys;

  • Ensure efficient operation of the survey crew in accordance with standard procedures and health and safety requirements;

  • Operate robotic total stations and GPS receivers to accurately collect survey data;

  • Perform daily field tasks including cutting brush, driving stakes, and collecting detailed notes and sketches;

  • Maintain survey equipment, company tools, and vehicles to ensure readiness and reliability;

  • Coordinate field activities under the direction of a Registered Professional Surveyor to support accurate and complete survey deliverables.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years' survey crew chief experience; 
  • Skilled in the use of GPS devices, data collectors and/or Total Station;
  • Work requires independent judgment and initiative; 
  • Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying; 
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instruments used in computer aided drafting; 
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans, and regulations related to construction;
  • Knowledge of industry specific safe workplace principles and practices; 
  • Albility to operate motorized equipment; 
  • Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions; 
  • Valid Driver's License.
