As the Office Safety Manager,  you will support the day-to-day operation of CEC’s Health & Safety Program at the local office level, as well as serve as a resource for other offices in the Southeast Region.   You will act as a liaison between the Franklin office and corporate safety leadership, helping ensure compliance with CEC’s safety policies while fostering a positive, proactive safety culture. Your responsibilities will include coordinating new hire safety orientations, facilitating monthly inspections, assisting with incident reporting, and maintaining organized safety documentation. You will play a key role in communicating safety expectations and initiatives while promoting accountability and awareness across the team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting in-person safety orientations with new hires during their first week;
  • Acting as the local point of contact and resource for CEC’s Health & Safety Program;
  • Assisting with incident response and reporting, including employee injuries/illnesses and vehicle incidents;
  • Communications regarding current safety policies, practices, and procedures;
  • Participating in monthly Corporate Health & Safety Committee calls and bringing forward relevant office feedback or concerns;
  • Coordinating the completion of safety training to meet OSHA, CEC, and client requirements;
  • Present 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher training internally;
  • Performing monthly office safety inspections and maintaining inspection records;
  • Assisting with field safety audits, job hazard assessments, and pre-job briefings;
  • Managing the office Emergency Action Plan and leading an annual office evacuation drill;
  • Establishing and maintaining an organized filing system for local safety records in collaboration with the Office Administration Manager/Assistant;
  • Provide guidance and instruction regarding Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and medical monitoring requirements. Plan, schedule, and track medical monitoring requirements to ensure applicable CEC staff are assessed at the required frequency;
  • Serve as a resource during project planning activities to plan for and develop mitigation strategies for known hazards associated with field work including but not limited to: confined space entry, fall protection, lock-out tag-out, active construction sites, and chemical handling;
  • Facilitate a positive safety culture in the office by developing initiatives, programs, etc. that stress the importance of safety in our work;
  • Effectively communicate internal safety guidance to CEC personnel by leveraging work experience and other applicable resources;
  • Working with the vehicle fleet manager to ensure adequate and appropriate vehicle safety equipment is installed and monitoring GPS tracking information and enforcing vehicle safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction and general industry safety programs;
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Safety related field required;
  • Working knowledge and experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including the shipping of hazardous goods;
  • Experience or interest in environmental consulting or engineering work environments;
  • Prior involvement in office or field safety coordination, with a focus on construction or environmental remediation projects;
  • Working knowledge of emergency response protocols and OSHA safety standards;
  • Ability to deliver First Aid, CPR, AED Training;
  • OSHA 10-hr, 30-hr, or 40-hr HAZWOPER Certifications;
  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer or willingness to be trained;
  • Industrial hygiene experience.
