Overview

As a Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC) Geotechnical group in our Pittsburgh, PA office, you'll be responsible for geotechnical subsurface investigations related to real estate development, manufacturing, renewable energy, data center, natural gas and public infrastructure, as well as construction materials and geotechnical testing services for various projects. You will coordinate or monitor subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, perform geotechnical analyses and prepare geotechnical reports. This role may also include construction materials testing and project duties will include earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, and pavement construction testing.

 

Recent CEC geotechnical projects include a geotechnical investigation and foundation recommendations for a new $3B steel mill in West Virginia, design and construction services for a rock slope stabilization project for a local transportation agency, and a geotechnical investigation for a mixed-use, urban supermarket development in Pittsburgh, PA.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Geology, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering (M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred)
  • 0-3 years of consulting experience
  • EIT or GIT preferred
