Overview

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is looking for a Credit and Collections Manager to join our corporate staff in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The Credit and Collections Manager will work closely with operations leaders across the company, the CFO, and executive leaders to ensure minimize the risk of company cash flow.

 

Primary duties include:

  • Analyze company DSO performance, identify trends and key areas for focus and develop and execute plans to attain target levels
  • Manage and help to set priorities for accounts receivable collection specialists
  • Perform credit evaluations and financial analysis of new and existing clients using D&B and other tools to make recommendations regarding credit worthiness
  • Coordinate and actively participate in monthly project financial review meetings with profit center leaders, senior management, and project accounting team
  • Help to develop and implement new credit and collection strategies and procedures to support the continued growth of the company
  • Communicate effectively and timely with clients and internal project managers and leaders regarding past due accounts receivable and credit evaluations
  • Research client collection issues, understand work-in-process on active projects and propose and/or negotiate paths to resolve obstacles to payment.
  • Participate in training sessions to help employees understand how they can positively impact DSO in their roles
  • Evaluate the need to use outside collection agencies and law firms for problem accounts in coordination with CFO and inside counsel
  • Manage client lien waivers requests, ensure appropriate terms and execute acceptable lien releases
  • Utilize Lexis/Nexis and other sources to obtain information on judgments, liens and bankruptcies
  • Review bankruptcy filings and file proof of claims

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+  years of relevant experience (engineering and consulting industry experience a plus)
  • Prior experience in accounts receivable and collections required
  • Experience with ERP software such as Deltek required
  • Tactful with advanced negotation skills and knowledgeable of regulations on collection practices
  • Able to develop and make presentations, including to Executive level and external parties
  • Supervisory experience required
  • AEC industry experience preferred
