We’re looking for a Project Engineer/Geologist to join our growing team in Johnson City, TN. In this role, you’ll support a variety of environmental compliance and site investigation projects focused on groundwater, soil, sediment, and air quality assessments. You’ll assist with and lead field sampling efforts, perform data interpretation and visualization, and contribute to the development of environmental reports and remediation strategies. You’ll also work closely with project managers and senior technical staff to deliver high-quality work for a range of public- and private-sector clients across multiple industries.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field sampling and monitoring for groundwater, soil, surface water, sediment, and air quality, including oversight of soil borings and well installations
  • Analyze and interpret environmental data to support the development of maps, cross-sections, and technical reports
  • Assist with the preparation of environmental assessments, compliance documents, and remedial action plans
  • Operate and maintain field equipment such as pumps, meters, and generators while ensuring safe, efficient field practices
  • Collaborate with project teams to meet schedules and deliverables, supporting both field and office-based project tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology (preferred), or related field; 
  • 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience; 
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel overnight as needed; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management abilities; 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in both office and field settings; 
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); 
  • Working knowledge of field tools and equipment such as pumps, compressors, and field meters; 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred but not required); 
  • Willingness to obtain specialized safety or technical training as needed.
