Overview

As a Project Surveyor at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll provide technical oversight, mentoring, and project management to our office and field staff. You'll expand the survey practice's client base and capabilities, demonstrating keen attention to detail throughout diverse projects. This includes managing field crews, scheduling, and daily assignments. You'll also develop survey plat maps, base maps, conduct research for right-of-way information, easement, recorded plats and property deeds. Your expertise in ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic mapping, boundary surveys, GPS surveys, and construction layout will be crucial. While primarily office-based, periodic fieldwork is anticipated.

  • Technical Oversight: Ensure quality assurance and control of survey projects, procedures, and work products.
  • Safety: Champion the Survey Practice's safety program, prepare Project Safety Plans (PSPs) and conduct field safety audits.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality assurance and control checks on drawings and calculations, adhering to the CEC Survey Manual.
  • Project Management: Develop project budgets and schedules, monitoring staff time and resources to meet CEC standards.
  • Proposals: Draft scopes of service and estimate staff hours for proposal
  • Personnel Development: Mentor and train survey staff and assist in recruiting key personnel.
  • Strategic Growth: Help identify growth opportunities for survey services, support business development and marketing, and implement sales strategies for sustainable practice expansion. Collaborate across CEC’s footprint to offer integrated client solutions.

 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional surveying experience;
  • Missouri Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration or ability to obtain licensure with being a Survey Intern (S.I.);
  • Knowledge of technological advances, principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying;
  • Experienced in supervising and coordinating the work of multiple survey crews and office personnel, and training employees in survey work;
  • Experienced in AutoCAD, Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center; and
  • Ability to assist in business development and growth of Survey Practice using marketing and networking techniques.
