Overview

As a Geologist in the geotechnical engineering group for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC), you will participate in geotechnical subsurface investigations and reporting, as well as inspection services that CEC provides during construction of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects (i.e., building foundations, cut and fill slopes, retaining walls, landslides, underground utilities and pavements). You will coordinate, manage and monitor subsurface drilling, obtain and preserve soil and rock samples, prepare field and electronic boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, and prepare detailed geotechnical engineering reports. This role will also include performance of construction materials testing, observations and inspections associated with earthwork, concrete, deep and shallow foundations, masonry and pavement construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geology;
  • 0-4 years of geology experience or related experience with construction and/or consulting;
  • Experience with subsurface drilling, well installation and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus;
  • Experience or ability to prepare data tables, maps, figures, and reports;
  • Ability to speak and write professionally;
  • Working knowledge for Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with the desire to learn quickly and succeed professionally.
