Overview

The Cincinnati, Ohio (in Blue Ash) Office of Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated senior engineer/manager to join, lead and grow our solid waste engineering team.   As a Solid Waste Principal your responsibilities will be to market and manage engineering consulting services to a broad range of clients with an emphasis in municipal solid waste, construction demolition debris and coal combustion residuals. Your focus on business development, client managament and marketing obligations, as well as maintaining technical management responsibilities and project budgets, are an expectation. 

 

You will work primarily on solid waste projects and will also support our waste practice team located across the CEC geographic footprint. Projects will involve completing engineering tasks such as airspace, excavation, and fill volume calculations, preparation, review and compilation of technical reports, stormwater management system design, landfill grading, and leachate and landfill gas collection system design. You will assist our waste management clients by providing day-to-day operational support, as well as manage Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) for landfill cell, final cover and gas system expansion construction projects. You will also assist our engineering team with site development and geotechnical engineering projects. You will interact with CEC office and field staff, clients and contractors and your efforts will be part of the overall completion of design/permitting, construction and certification projects. 

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required (MS is a plus);
  • 15+ years of engineering consulting experience;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with landfill engineering projects (Ohio preferred); 
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.);
  • Demonstrated client development and management success;
  • Sound understanding of business principles of consulting projects and related project delivery tools;
  • Ability to lead, develop and mentor staff;
  • Technical expertise to prepare and review construction documents, including specifications;
  • Ability to coordinate the regulatory agency review process; 
  • Experience with preparation of proposals and statements of qualification;
  • AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Excel, Word, HydroCAD and other computer modeling software a plus.
