Survey Technician II

As a Survey Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will be part of a survey field crew performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, and construction stakeouts. You will perform land survey work through the application of surveying principles and practices and use of modern survey equipment. You will operate instrumentation, clear brush, drive stakes, hold chains or rods, record data, prepare sketches and maintain equipment as needed. You will also have the opportunity to be responsible for utilizing surveying software applications to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and performing basic survey computations.  Ultimately, this position will provide a foundation for further professional development as a land surveyor.

• A general understanding of real estate;
• A knowledge of basic mathematics;
• A knowledge of Microsoft Word;
• A knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
• A Valid Driver’s License;
• Ability to drive to destinations within the 6 counties within IDOT District 1 (Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane, DuPage and Will)
• The candidate will be working under the direction of the Section Chief of Property Management, Relocations and Appraisals and will be asked to:
  • Coordinating Excess Parcel/Lease reviews with Various Bureaus within IDOT District 1 and Central Office.
  • Meet with property owners and government agencies, both in person and via telephone to discuss IDOT property management/relocation policies.
  • Various tasks relating to District 1 Property Management.
