Overview

As a staff Hydrogeologist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll conduct field activities related to environmental assessment projects and assist in report preparation. You’ll provide field and office support on environmental site characterization and hydrogeologic investigation projects.  You will work with senior hydrogeologists and take training classes in aquifer test analysis, digital groundwater modeling and fate and transport modeling.   Initial experience will be field focused including the following duties:

  • Applying knowledge of geochemistry and hydrogeology to characterize groundwater flow and quality as well as determine contaminant fate and transport.
  • Preparing environmental data tables, drilling logs, contour maps, and reports to present and interpret compiled data.
  • Overseeing and documenting drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Collecting or supervising collection of soil, surface water, and groundwater samples for analysis of chemical composition.
  • Developing groundwater wells.
  • Conducting aquifer testing and interpreting aquifer testing data. 
  • Planning and implementing single-well permeability tests.

Qualifications

Qualification:

  • M.S. in Geology with Hydrogeology emphasis
  • 0-2 years’ professional experience;
  • Detailed oriented;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Ability to speak effectively to clients or employees of the organization;
  • Ability to use MS Word processing and Excel spreadsheet software;
  • Ability to travel overnight and work extended hours as needed;
  • Experience with Aqtesolv, MODFLOW, and MT3D software is a preferred.
