Air Quality Scientist/Engineer

As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll be directly involved with challenging projects under the direction of project managers, senior experts and multi-disciplinary teams to assist clients in the manufacturing, mining, power, natural gas, and waste industries to obtain regulatory permits, expand their existing operations, and comply with ongoing state and federal regulations. Primarily office work will be involved; however, field work may be involved periodically. 

You will be part of a Midwest regional air practice and have opportunities to work collaboratively with other CEC air quality practice members across the country to apply best practices to address client needs.  We encourage and promote training and professional development to facilitate your continued career growth to help you achieve your current and future career goals.

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields;
• 2 to 5 years’ consulting, compliance, or industry air quality experience;
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
• Experience with air emission inventory calculations and air permit application preparation;
• Knowledge of MO & IL regulations, and USEPA air quality regulations;
• Aptitude to learn and apply engineering software;
• Good time management, project management, and problem-solving skills; and
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional qualifications that are a plus:

• Air dispersion modeling experience using AERMOD;
• Knowledge of New Source Review procedures; and
• Knowledge of Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) programs.
