Overview

As an Environmental Scientist/Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll conduct office and field activities related to environmental compliance projects and help develop plans, permit applications, and reports.  You will perform compliance related work at multi media facility sites which will include RCRA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Title V. Duties may include:

  • Preparing Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans (SPCCs), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), NPDES Permit applications, industrial discharge permits, air permits, EPCRA reporting, and other compliance-related reporting.
  • Conducting facility audits.   
    Conducting field investigations, data collection, and site reconnaissance tasks, including sampling of a variety of environmental media.
  • Managing, and occasional participation in, sampling programs for storm water and industrial wastewater.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Environmental Science/Engineering or related field;
  • 3-10 years professional experience;
  • Experience preparing SWPPP and SPCC plans;
  • Air permitting experience a plus;
  • Experience with compliance auditing at industrial facilities a plus;
  • Strong mechanical skills a plus;
  • Business Development and client interaction skills
  • Experience working on industrial sites and working within strict client-mandated safety protocols. 
  • Detailed-oriented;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Ability to speak effectively;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word Processing and MS Excel spreadsheet software;
  • Ability to travel overnight and work extended hours as needed.
