Industrial Wastewater Engineer

As a mid or senior level wastewater process consulting engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll conduct office and field activities in support of CEC’s manufacturing clients as an advisor in understanding their often complex wastewater issues and managing wastewater projects.

Duties may include:

Conceptual Design Services

• Facility evaluations / audits
• Design basis development
• Technology evaluations / technology selection
• Treatability testing / technology demonstrations
• Project development

Process Design Services

• Process design
• Process flow diagrams and mass balance
• Preliminary P&IDs (30%)
• Equipment lists
• Budgetary cost estimates

Operations Services

• WWTP performance evaluations, audits, optimization
• Data management and ongoing operations data review
• Standard operating procedures (SOP) development
• Operator training
• Startup assistance
• Troubleshooting / upset response

Owner’s Engineering Services

• Assisting clients with defining and managing wastewater projects
• Preparing bid document and specifications for equipment and services
• Reviewing and interpreting vendor and engineering submittals

Here's What You'll Need:

• B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering field;
• Detailed-oriented mindset;
• Ability to work independently;
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance manuals and procedure manuals;
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
• Ability to listen effectively and capture important information;
• Ability to speak effectively and give occasional presentations;
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel software;
• Ability to travel overnight and work extended hours as needed.

• Skill at troubleshooting / problem solving;
• Strong understanding of how processes work;
• Ability to select and size treatment processes;
• Experience with a variety of industries;
• Onsite experience with facility troubleshooting, operations, facility audits, treatability studies, sampling, etc.;
  Client-focused service orientation.
