  • Overview

    As a Senior Mining Manager in CEC’s Toledo office, you will be tasked to help grow the mining practice in the Great Lakes Region with emphasis in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. You will manage projects and project teams to navigate today’s complex mining regulatory landscape, help our aggregate mining clients to secure permits and complete projects in a timely manner while achieving compliance with regulatory criteria.  Your work will influence the entire project – from assessment and investigation, to conceptual design plans, through completion of permitting, bidding, and construction.  You will also serve as a mentor to junior staff, educating them about the mining industry in the region, about field data collection, engineering and environmental design parameters, as well as the regulatory criteria as they relate to the aggregate mining industries in the Great Lakes Region.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, Mining or Environmental Engineering with P.E. registration (M.S. preferred) or B.S. in Geology with R.G. registration (M.S. preferred);
    • Minimum 15+ years of experience in managing mining-related infrastructure design, permitting and/or environmental compliance activities for mining companies;
    • Strong working knowledge of  state and federal environmental laws and regulations as they relate to aggregate mining;
    • Experience working with all levels of regulatory agency personnel;
    • Demonstrated experience building a staff as well as supervising technical and administrative personnel;
    • Demonstrated success in the development and execution of mining business development strategies including creation of market/client intelligence, win themes, visitation schedules, client relationship management, and revenue generation;
    • Ability to prepare and review engineering drawings and plans; and,
    • Ability to speak and write professionally, including experience with preparation of regulatory submittals and preparation and delivery of technical presentations to trade association conferences.
